Job Title: Receiving Clerk I

Department: Receiving

Reports to: Materials Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring that incoming materials are properly received, accounted for, issued to end-users, and documentation for all inventory transactions (correcting any inaccuracies).

Supervisory Responsibilities - None

Duties

  1. Receives materials from UPS, truck freight, etc.
  2. Matches Packing Slips to Purchase Order.
  3. Records and documents deliveries and changes to inventory.
  4. Issues materials from Stores to Manufacturing.
  5. Supports Shipping by building shipping crates, services Production requests.
  6. Issue tools and miscellaneous supplies from the Tool Crib.
  7. Will work with vendors’ and other delivery drivers in order to expedite receipt of deliveries.
  8. Works closely with other departments to ensure prompt delivery of in-coming parcels.
  9. Interfaces closely with Purchasing and other support departments to clean up discrepancies.

Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

General Qualifications:

  1. Safely operate forklift, hoist and other moving equipment.
  2. Accurately input and extract data/information using basic computer/system skills.
  3. Ability to learn and apply safe handling procedures for hazardous chemicals and materials.
  4. Ability to understand MSDS requirements and their safe application.
  5. Good math skills, in order to precisely measure, weigh and count materials to ensure correctness of Bills of Lading and inventory stocking levels; maybe required to use handheld calculator

Education and/or Experience

Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from High School, or that would provide required knowledge, skill and ability to successfully perform the assigned job duties.

Language Skills

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematics skills.

Reasoning Ability

Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with quickly changing work priorities.

TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT

WORK ENVIRONMENT

50% inside, open warehouse environment, and 50% outside-yard environment; where temperatures during the year can range from very cold (20s) in the winter, to very hot (110+) in the summer. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must wear safety glasses and/or hearing protection where required, and face-shield while building crates, and while using packaging foam. This position requires work in factory setting.
