Job Description

This position will be responsible for key accounting functions as well as supporting the overall business. Highly motivated and collaborative, this person will possess knowledge of U.S. accounting practices. The Staff Accountant will have the ability to balance detailed transactional work with accounting/financial projects. Reports to the CFO in the Columbus, GA corporate office. This is an 'in-office' position. Salary up to $70K annual dependent on experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other financial related activities.
  • Perform month-end closing activities, account reconciliations, resulting in timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Assume Sales and Use Tax and Franchise Tax financial activities.
  • Review general ledger for possible reclassification of miscoded entries.
  • Review and/or prepare monthly reconciliation of miscoded accounts.
  • Prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and analyze outstanding items for resolution.
  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties.
  • Assist CFO in preparing for independent audit.
  • Research accounting issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Assist with the coordination of the development of consistent accounting and finance processes and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with accounting experience with multi-entity organizations.
  • CPA a plus
  • 2-3 years accounting/financial experience required. Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting-related software.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written), analytical, organization, planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement process and other improvements, partnering with others as needed.
