Feed & Facilities Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Feed & Facilities Manager to join our team at Apple Hill Farm. This position is crucial for the smooth operation of our working alpaca farm, which is also an agritourism destination. The Feed & Facilities Manager will play a key role in ensuring the well-being of our animals, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and managing feed and bedding supplies.

Responsibilities:

Feed and Bedding Supply Management:

• Coordinate and execute feed and bedding supply runs.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies for all animals.
• Collaborate with suppliers to optimize cost and quality.

Facilities Maintenance:

• Perform routine cleaning of barns, stalls, and common areas.
• Upkeep of the RTV (Recreational Terrain Vehicle) and other farm equipment.
• Conduct regular maintenance of fencelines and ensure the security of enclosures.

Groundskeeping:

• Weed eating in fields and along fencelines.
• Ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the barns and grounds.
• Implement safety measures for the public visiting the farm.

Livestock Care:

• Assist with the care of alpacas, angora goats, donkeys, horses, cows, and other farm animals.
• Participate in health checks and coordinate with the veterinary team as needed.
• Handle feeding and other daily care responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in livestock management is required.
• Ability to operate an RTV, and flatbed truck
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Comfortable working in all-weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Trailer driving experience is appreciated, but not required

Working Hours:

• 40 hours per week, including weekends as needed.
• Shifts are from 8 am to 4 pm.

Commitment:

• Applicants must commit to arriving at the farm at 8 am, even in adverse weather conditions.
