Position: Camp Medical Support Staff (RN/LPN/CNA)

Temporary position

Job Description

Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping those impacted by epilepsy when they need it most. EFGC is offering a free, weekend overnight camp for families living with epilepsy to connect with one another and build community. We are looking for licensed medical support staff to join our camp team. Responsibilities include being available to families to provide respite care, assist with general medical support of a child living with epilepsy and provide crisis support in the event of an emergency. Staff may be responsible for the safe storage and distribution of medication as needed.

Camp will be held for 2 weekends: April 12-14, 2024 and April 19-21, 2024 at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center in Hudson, IL. This is an overnight sleepaway camp beginning on Friday and concluding on Sunday.

Requirements:

- Must be a RN or LPN or CNA with a current license in the state of Illinois.

- Must complete required training, including Seizure Safe training provided by EFGC and camp-specific training.

- Experience working with children with disabilities.

- Experience working with children and families with medical support needs.

- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities (license dependent):

- Availability to support families with medical needs and/or health concerns that arise during camp.

- Staff will review and become familiar with individual seizure actions plans for all campers.

- Staff may be responsible for storage/refrigeration/distribution of medication to campers, as needed.

- Staff may be asked to assist with moving/lifting campers in wheelchairs.

- Staff may be asked to assist with feeding and hygiene support, including g-tube management.
