The Capital Expansion Project Manager serves as the primary contact between the Indianapolis Expansion Project Team and the Global Project Manager. This job will be responsible for the management of all on-site contractors ensuring timely and efficient implementation of project initiatives within a compliant and safe environment.

  • Responsible for adherence to day-to-day overall management of Indianapolis Expansion Construction projects, Management of Changes (MOC's), Safe Work permits, Commissioning, and Pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Leads scoping and execution of additional (new) projects for Indianapolis Expansion that are not executed by the Indianapolis Expansion lead contractor.
  • Manages the relationship with the external construction management (CM) service provider to achieve construction schedule milestones and ensures that construction adheres to the design.
  • Conducts daily contractor meeting - working with CM services firm to resolve schedule conflicts and technical issues to ensure timely and efficient completion of activities.
  • Coordinates scheduling with the project manager and team, production, maintenance, logistics and EHS teams to ensure plant operations are not disrupted due to construction activities and resolves issues as necessary.
  • Assists with Factory Acceptance Inspections and Testing for new equipment and incoming equipment receipt approval.
  • Presents construction updates regarding the Indianapolis Expansion and new projects at plant meetings.
  • Synchronizes with operations to ensure on-time (clean) turnover of existing production equipment and buildings to Production.
  • Develops with Area Project Leaders, new equipment checks out and start-up plans.
  • Coordinates with Area Project Leaders on MOC, PSSR and any other safety/environmental related documentation during project, ensuring all documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Oversees Contractor Safety Management (Safe Work Process, Training) for Indianapolis Expansion and new projects including project safety kickoff meetings.
  • Oversees lock out tag out (LOTO) for all Indianapolis Expansion and new projects and zero energy verification prior to work kickoff.
  • Interfaces with the Area Project Leaders, Materials group and Value Stream Leaders on build-ahead to maintain adequate inventory when shutting down existing equipment.
  • Builds and sustains a zero-incident culture with Contractors and Project Leaders, as well as perform near miss/incident investigations and documentations as needed.
  • Identifies and communicates any safety or quality issues with contractors to the Global Project Manager.
  • Coordinates with EHS manager to ensure understanding of site environmental and safety regulations.
  • Coordinates plans for decontamination and disposal of used equipment.

REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, project management, capital management, or similar area
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and write documentation, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ability to lead short- to medium-term projects.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement related to construction and project execution.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and SAP software.
  • Knowledge of capital project execution in an operating chemical facility.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, process controls, inspection methods, and process safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work any shift as well as extended hours during the week and on weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to work and communicate successfully in a team environment with engineers, supervisors, operators, and other departments.
  • Ability to complete the job without direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Demonstrated effort toward self-improvement by gaining new knowledge and being willing to accept new assignments.
  • Ability to complete the job following all policies or procedures regarding safety, waste handling, and environmental regulations without direct threat or significant risk to the health, safety or environment.

PREFERRED

  • 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, project management, capital management, or similar area
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
