Senior Automotive Maintenance Technician

This position offers a $3,000 New Hire Bonus.

Job Responsibilities:

A Senior Auto Maintenance Technician provides a high skill level for accurate vehicle maintenance and repairs of vehicles. Provides exceptional service delivery and is mindful of expense controls. This technician may work independently or in a team environment.

  • Perform a predefined inspection and light to complex mechanical repairs to a vehicle.
  • Ability to complete minor to complex diagnoses and repairs to all vehicle systems, including Drivability diagnosis and repairs, including complete working knowledge of vehicle operating systems and scan/electronic tools utilized in drivability repairs.
  • Complete vehicle electrical system diagnosis and repairs, including but not limited to lighting, drivetrain electrical, interior/dash, and accessories.
  • Major engine mechanical and driveline component diagnosis, repair, and replacement, including engine, transmission, and differential.
  • Complete A/C system repairs including evacuate and recharge system. Must have Macs 609 certification to complete these repairs.
  • Perform Vehicle Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspect the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
  • Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance, which may include OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
  • Skilled in diesel and transmission repairs.
  • Maintain assigned work area and overall shop in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe and conscientious manner at all times as directed by management and Manheim's safety standards.
  • Handle and dispose of all fluids as defined by MSDS and in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records as defined/directed by management.
  • Assures prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors and other Manheim associates for parts and repairs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving record required.
  • 10 years of automotive service and repair experience; 15+ years of service experience preferred.
  • Requires some A.S.E. certifications. (A6 & A8).
  • OE specific mechanical certifications desired.
  • Must continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and to meet with technology changes as they occur.
  • Must have personal hand/air/cordless tools to perform all duties.
  • Must have diesel and transmission experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as electrical and A/C desired.
  • Computer and Scan tool/drivability diagnosis knowledge preferred.
  • Front end, suspension, and brake certifications desired.
  • Ability to write estimates that meet customer guidelines and contractual compliance.
  • Dealership and manufacturer certification desired
  • 8 ASE certifications are preferred.


Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level.


SMCOX

USD 28.13 - 42.21 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $28.13 - $42.21/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
