Then, this position at, Wayne County Human Services, Children & Youth Services Agency, is for you! This vacancy is in the ongoing protective services unit.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position directly supervises caseworkers who provide ongoing services to children/youth/families in need of on-going Child Abuse or General Protective Services. Supervision is provided mainly through weekly casework conferences and review of all casework dictation, service plans, treatment plans, etc. The Supervisor will maintain a log which clearly outlines the dates and contents of supervisory meetings on a no less than monthly basis. This position is responsible for the daily supervision of up to five caseworkers and one social service aide. Approves leave and biweekly employee timesheets, completes and signs performance evaluations.

Other duties include responsibility for ensuring compliance with legal benchmarks, achieving timely permanency for children in placement, preparing caseworkers for court, monitoring compliance with resulting court orders, may be responsible for carrying a caseload of Children and Youth clients, and assisting with the supervision of other Agency units as needed.

This position is responsible for monitoring all forms, deadlines, compiling statistical information, and directly involved in the planning/ supervision of services for any child and family involved in In-Home or Placement services. Other responsibilities include coordinating permanency/team review meetings, determining the need for case review meetings, preparing meeting agendas, training new and existing workers, and providing ongoing training to all workers in the Protective Services unit. You will contribute to the development of the annual plan, evaluate and make recommended changes to agency policy and procedures and serve as an agency representative on community task forces.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • On-call 24/7 on rotating basis. Irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
