Shipping & Receiving Specialist I

Quality management of BASi instruments and consumables with a focus on creating and sustaining a quality control system that assures the highest customer product quality satisfaction.

Pick, pack, and process customer orders.
• Prepare customer order processing, shipment data entry, and packaging documents.
• Perform quality check to ensure package contents fulfill customer order documentation.
• Assemble, pack, and seal shipping materials and crates.
• Coordinate package loading, shipping, and delivery.
• Receive and perform quality check inspection of incoming materials
• Coordinate materials receiving, supply, and movement: including stock identification, loading and unloading, storage, and transfer.
• Determine shipping method for packages, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Label new inventory items, identify warehouse bin location.
• Perform and assist in inventory control activities, including physical and cycle counts.
• Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
• Compare, identify information and count, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Maintain neat, clean, and orderly warehouse and storage operations.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Responsible for at least two recommendations per quarter regarding improvement in safety, health, efficiency or process.
• This position is subject to sudden changes in work assignments and priorities.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate degree preferred
• Hold a valid driver's license
• Strong team focus
• Ability to follow instructions while working safely and efficiently in a fast paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures preferred
• Willing and able to work overtime which may include occasional after hours and/or weekends

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to fit with and work in team atmosphere
• Ability to distinguish color required
• Good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to understand engineering blue prints and schematics
• Self-motivate with ability to work independently
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments

Tools, Equipment and Other Resources Used

• Various software applications sustained by a Windowsa (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Hand held precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Basic arithmetic skills

Physical Activity

• Moderate physical activity
• This position requires frequent walking, standing for extending periods of time, sitting for extended periods of time, talking for extended periods of time, carrying items (maximum 50 pounds), reaching while standing and general repetitive motions
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
• Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.
• Ability to read and understand applicable materials

Working Conditions

• Normal manufacturing environment with varying temperatures
• Tool and machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but no limited to; eye safety glasses.
• The noise level is usually moderate
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment (includes, but not limited to cardboard, Styrofoam, plastic, etc.)

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
