2nd Shift / Evening Dispatcher

POSITION SUMMARY

Night Dispatcher's are responsible for dispatching drivers, communicate with customers to gather shipment information, schedule deliveries, and provide shipment updates. Planners is also responsible for managing driver schedules, tracking freight movement, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Allocate and dispatch vehicles and drivers for the transportation of freight in accordance with customer requirements and company policies.
• Ensuring load is secured correctly, temperature is correct, BOL's are accurate.
• Communicate effectively with customers to gather shipment information, schedule deliveries, and provide shipment updates.
• Coordinate with other departments and external partners to ensure smooth and efficient transport operations.
• Monitor driver schedules and ensure they are compliant with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Track and report freight movement, delivery status, and other transportation data using computer systems and software.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and other legal documents.
• Provide support to drivers by answering questions, providing directions, and resolving issues related to equipment or other operational concerns.
• Monitor and report on driver performance, including compliance with safety regulations, on-time delivery, and customer service.
• Continuously improve operations by identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency gains, and process improvements.
• Maintain high level of customer service and operational efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

• Bachelor's degree; or

Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in Transportation or Logistics; required

Computer Skills:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products and Windows.
• Ability to learn and use proprietary software, advanced keyboarding skills.
• AS400 experience; a plus
