Responsibilities

We currently have a great opportunity available for a SAI Warehouse Supervisor. The Supervisor will be responsible for many of the daily activities within the Distribution Center, including: inbound (receiving); inventory control; production support; put away, storing, packing and shipping of materials and/or finished goods. Supervise and leads associates in the Distribution environment. Provide leadership, insight and information for various projects to achieve objectives, in a timely manner. Assist in the planning of warehouse and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight and related factors of items stored. Supervise associates engaged in lifting, transporting and loading materials for shipment or storage, while promoting the most efficient and economical use of space for storing and distributing raw material and finished goods. Oversees the processing of inbound (reverse logistics, receiving), outbound (shipping, packaging, loading) inventory (cycle counting, storage of supplies, materials, and equipment). Determines work procedures, assist in preparing schedules and expedites workflow. Ensure the cleanliness of the warehouse is maintained in addition to maintaining a safety orient culture in a policy and procedure based organization. Contribute to the continuous improvement process through recommendations, suggestion, and implementation of approved projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Supervise the warehouse activities to ensure cost effective and timely utilization of personnel /equipment by monitoring the workflow and champion continuous improvement projects. Maintain efficient warehouse operations and accurate inventory to designate standards by maintaining designated cycle count programs.
  1. Organizes the staff and workload to meet or exceed distribution productivity performance standards for designated area as outline in key performance metrics (KPI)- receiving; production support; put away, storing, cycle counting, packing, shipping, and accuracy. Provides ongoing support and constant feedback to improve performance and to ensure accountability is established while continuing to foster teamwork.
  2. Operate all material handling equipment, vertical baler, bar code scanners, industrial lift-trucks, conveyor, air machine, sealed air, shipping manifest systems, and warehouse management systems.
  3. Evaluates and recommend and delivers disciplinary action when necessary, for issues related to attendance, performance, safety or policy violation. This includes involvement in annual performance appraisals of direct reports by providing feedback on overall performance and achievement of goals. Recommends and develops ideas for improvement in operating methods and procedures to resolve problems prior to or when they arise. This may result in making recommendations in improved layout, workflow, operating costs and customer service for consideration to be shared with the Manager of Distribution.
  4. Balance the time needed to drive beneficial change in the department/facility while performing core supervisory duties and satisfying regulatory requirements. Ability to multi-task proactively and re-prioritize on a daily basis to accommodate the changing business requirements.
  5. Ensures execution of material flow, work practices, inbound receipts, outbound shipments, and inventory control are in accordance with cGXP, FDA, OSHA, IATA, DOT, TSA and other applicable regulations or other foreign authority of regulatory requirements. This includes product documentation, quality standards, specifications, SOP's & GMP
  6. Reconciles and approves time detail for employees in the automated or SAP time system, - approval of OT in advance. Responsible for the quality and integrity of those records and setting expectations with employees about the management of their time related to that. Partners with manager to keep OT expenditures within budget.
  7. Shares responsibility with Distribution Manager for keeping department in audit ready condition at all times and participates in the development of Distribution policies (including operational, safety, and quality programs). Maintains safety standards and training in the department; ensures that the building is maintained in a clean and safe manner and that inventories and equipment are properly protected against theft, fire and other hazards that may cause loss or damage. Ensures departmental adherence to all company and governmental procedures and regulations including, but not limited to safety, environmental and housekeeping.
  8. Interface with internal and external customers on continuous improvement opportunities. Demonstrate good customer service to all departments through timely movement of goods into and out of the warehouse. Resolves customer service (internal/external) issues via phone, fax, and email and first person meetings at times partnering with other departments and utilizing whatever resources necessary; use the same avenues to strengthen business relationships. Promote customer-centric environment.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Shift:11:30am - 8pm

Physical Risk: Regular exposures to risk that may require special training and precautions.

Physical Demands: Heavy physical activity. Routine handling of objects more than 50 pounds. May require periods of substantial discomforts due to excessive noise, dust, and/or other conditions.

Qualifications
  • High School Required and 2-5 years experience of front line supervision essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Must possess at least 5-7 years knowledge of an ERP and/or warehouse management system, and proven ability to work with spreadsheets, Barcode scanners, SAP EWM or WM a plus.
  • Experience applying administrative guidelines and contributing ideas and strategies for effective problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, in varying mediums and venues.
  • Experience in organizational planning, independent problem solving, information retrieval and functioning as hands on equipment operator if need be.
  • Experience with orienting and supervision of staff and fostering positive employee relations.
  • Experience with program development, planning, operations and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of quality structures, organization and policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to motivate and evaluate staff in meeting program objectives, fulfilling individual scope of work and completing work accurately and timely.
  • Knowledge of existing OSHA, GMP, IATA, and Hazmat standards.
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in written, oral and listening skills to acknowledge understanding business requirements. Clearly express his or her ideas to employees, peers, higher levels of management and key stakeholders. This also includes documented performance reviews and discipline when needed.
  • Must possess the leadership and supervisory skills to lead, coach and motivate a large group of employees, along with demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills to relate well to peers, various levels of management and key stakeholders.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to evaluate a variety of variables and issues as they occur and respond to these with creative problem solving skills, and provide meaningful solutions.
  • Ability to interact with Sysmex management and key stakeholders with possible competing priorities, to achieve business objectives, while establishing meaningful business relationships with a customer-centric focus.
  • Has conducted performance evaluations in a consistent, fair and objective manner to encourage performance improvement and accountability, in a team and customer-centric work environment.
  • Must demonstrate leadership in providing employee feedback and development in growing distribution center environment.
