About this job

The primary duty of the Busser is to ensure that unoccupied tables are ready to receive new guests. The Busser removes dirty dishes, sanitizes tables, cleans the seats and sweeps or vacuums the surrounding floor as needed. The Busser will be responsible for clearing tables when customers leave the restaurant, and working closely with Dishwashers to make sure that there are always clean plates and flatware for each table. Also assists servers in delivering food and filling or re-filling beverages.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Prepare dining room for guests by setting tables and stocking all necessary supplies prior to the beginning of service.
  2. Maintain table settings by removing finished courses and replenishing utensils as necessary.
  3. Refill water and other beverages; serves alcoholic beverages only if legally permitted to do so.
  4. Support wait staff by assisting them with delivery of food and retrieval of supplies they may need.
  5. Bus used and unneeded dishes and glassware from guest tables to dish-pit.
  6. Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to the dish-pit for cleaning, keeping a consolidated dish area.
  7. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas and service stations; clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash, recycling where appropriate.
  8. Set up and break down dining room and service stations, including moving tables, chairs and other furniture as needed.
  9. Collaborate with servers to ensure that tables are cleared, cleaned, re-set and ready for the next party.
  10. Arrange tables for large parties and prepare the banquet areas for scheduled gatherings.
  11. Assist in washing dishes when needed.
  12. Be knowledgeable about resort operations and amenities in order to answer guest questions as needed.


Requirements

  1. Previous restaurant or related experience, ideally in a resort setting, preferred.
  2. High school diploma (or equivalent).
  3. Comfortable working independently and managing workload while supporting a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  4. Punctuality and reliability are critical.
  5. Good verbal communication and organizational skills.
  6. Valid New Mexico Food Handler certification required before hire.
  7. Valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit a plus.
  8. Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required.
  9. Ability to work in an environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, noise, and odors.
  10. Ability to stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  11. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
