The Emergency Pet Hospital of Redlands is a 24-hour emergency hospital that serves the entire Inland Empire. Patient care is our number one priority. At EPHR we are looking for passionate, motivated, and experienced Veterinary technicians and RVTs. You will need to be able to carry out treatment plans and perform treatments in coordination with our highly experienced veterinary team.

We are looking for experienced, skilled veterinary technicians who can accomplish assigned tasks and know when to ask for assistance. You need to have excellent communication skills with your team, your DVM, and patients’ owners.

We are looking for people who value learning and are respectful to their peers. Technicians who love working with animals and people and those who are willing to learn new techniques and think outside the box.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN AT EPHR WILL BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

  • Ability to drive exceptional customer service for the pet and pet parent.
  • Ability to prioritize caseload and patient care.
  • Ensure patients receive quality care.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the daily flow of services.
  • Ensure proper histories notes are recorded, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
  • Anesthetize, prep, monitor and assist with surgical procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with other staff, Veterinarians, customers and suggest other services to clients when needed.
  • Supports EPHR's Vision, Mission and Values focusing on what is best for the pet.
  • Attend staff meetings, participate in hospital functions like open house, community efforts and special events.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT).
  • Fear Free certified or acquire certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ back office hands-on experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent client service skills and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to inspire, teach, multitask and be a highly functional team member.
  • Work successfully as a team member and autonomously.
  • Have a strong sense of urgency and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to stand on your feet for prolonged periods of time and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours, grave shift, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work all shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a temperature-controlled medical clinic environment. The employee may be exposed to mild X-ray radiation and infectious animal diseases such as parvovirus, hookworm, roundworm, salmonella, and giardia can be passed from dog to human through licking. Exposure to high noise levels due to barking dogs and machinery. Potential for being bitten or scratched while tending to animals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The employee is required to stand and use both hands for typing for extended periods of time; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl periodically. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday thru Saturday, 3 days at 12 hours a shift. Long hours, evening and weekends are required as job duties demand.
