Position Overview:

The application development manager role performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, resourcing and directing computer applications program design, development and implementation. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can effectively partner with end user communities. A teamwork mentality is critical for this role and we need someone who has demonstrated ability leading others in an IT environment, either situationally or with direct reports. This is a fully onsite role located at our Corporate office in Green Bay, WI.

Responsibilities:
  • Plans, assigns and directs the activities of professional and technical personnel involved in the design, development and systems analysis functions to create new computer applications programs or install and implement software from outside vendors. 
  • Reviews and analyzes existing applications programs and programs in development to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of those programs; reviews requests for program changes required to meet needs of company departments.
  • Conducts meetings with senior level end users to determine application requirements based on new project priorities, changes in business processes and system needs. 
  • Assigns and reviews the design layout for programs required for projects. 
  • Provides technical assistance in the development of bid specifications for hardware or software systems. 
  • Facilitates hardware and software failure lessons learned sessions for all custom developed applications to determine causes for system failure and to implement necessary solutions. 
  • Reviews performance of applications to ensure user efficiency, program documentation, and to ensure that functionality meets the needs of user departments. 
  • Prepares regular reports for the Director of Information Technology showing application development KPIs, status of program development and division needs. 
  • Provides technical information required in the preparation of annual operating and capital budget figures for the Application Development Team, including needs for upgrading hardware and software and resources.
  • Oversees the efficient delivery of EDI, SharePoint, and eCommerce applications within the company.
  • Oversees the project management function within the Information Technology department.
  • Oversees the database function within the Information Technology department. 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or management information systems. Equivalent education / work experience combination would be considered.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading IT Teams of five or more direct reports.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Hands-on experience implementing systems and applications.
  • Customer service focused on the ability to positively interact directly with end users.
  • Extensive experience working with developers and third-party vendor integrators.
  • Personal characteristics include good verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Team-first mentality.
  • Business and goal oriented.
  • Energetic with a can-do/positive outlook. 
  • Potential for growing into senior level leadership at some point in their career.
