The Head of Learning & Development is responsible for managing and strategically planning all the L&D activities including the Learning Hub and the Apprenticeship program. Based out of our Learning Hub in Iowa City, the Head of L&D will be overseeing key functions, including the Head of Apprenticeship, People Development/OD role, and Learning & Technical (L&T) experts. This role will play a critical part in spearheading organizational development, people development, and technical growth initiatives while acting as a strategic architect of our L&D strategies.

 

What You Will Enjoy Doing

  • Lead the Learning Hub in Iowa City, serving as the key point of contact for all L&D initiatives, programs, and strategies.
  • Manages and ensure the expansion of the Apprenticeship Program in the region.
  • Manage and grow a diverse team, including the Head of Apprenticeship, People Development/OD role, and L&T experts, fostering an environment of collaboration, growth, and innovation.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive L&D strategies aligned with the company's objectives, focusing on organizational development, people development, and technical skill enhancement.
  • Take ownership of building and scaling the L&D team, identifying talent, and cultivating a high-performing team culture.
  • Drive the implementation and evaluation of learning programs tailored to both technical and soft skills, catering to the specific needs of the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify skill gaps and create targeted solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and development across the organization, promoting engagement and employee growth opportunities.
  • Utilize metrics and data analytics to measure the effectiveness and impact of L&D initiatives, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly prepare and present comprehensive reports showcasing Return on Investment (ROI) metrics, outlining the quantifiable impact of learning initiatives, and their contribution to the company's strategic goals, to key stakeholders such as C-suite executives, department heads, and global leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to distill complex data into clear, concise presentations that effectively communicate the success, challenges, and improvements of learning strategies and their alignment with organizational objectives, ensuring stakeholder engagement and informed decision-making.

What Makes You Great

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record 7+ in a leadership role within Learning & Development, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a diverse team of professionals.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing learning strategies, organizational development programs, and technical skill development initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing learning management systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.

 

Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience prioritizing and exercising critical thinking
  • Promote and demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Experience working with various software’s (CRM, ATS, Digital Portals)
  • Entrepreneurial, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
