Internship Overview: The Immigrant Youth Intern will assist the Immigrant Youth Caseworkers in the provision of case management services to address the overall needs and stability of the immigrant families in the community. The intern will have the opportunity to play a key role in providing organizational support to the caseworker in Miami-Dade County by performing various clerical and administrative duties and helping build a strong network with community providers who can provide key services to clients.
Learning Objectives:
* The intern will gain knowledge of solution-oriented, strengths-based care coordination for immigrant children and their families.
* The intern will develop problem-solving skills, client service skills, and intercultural social work skills.
* The intern will develop skills in mapping community assets and resources.
* The intern will develop skills in client empowerment and advocacy.
* The intern will develop skills in research and compiling essential data.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Map community assets and help make referrals to community partners.
* Assist the caseworkers with building and maintaining case files and the funder's platform for data collection.
* Research services, resources, and community events that would support the integration of the clients.
* Help support small projects in collaboration with the development team to increase the visibility of the Immigrant Youth Program.
* Translate documents into Spanish.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Position Reports to: Immigrant Youth Caseworker
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
* Excellent communication and writing skills
* Required - Bilingual ability in English and Spanish
* Organized with attention to detail
* Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information
* Able to work independently and under pressure
* An interest in international and immigrant issues
* Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects
* Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multicultural setting
* Computer literacy - preferably with PC systems
* Minimum three-month commitment. Able to commit 12-15 hours a week.
