What You'll Do

IMA's Private Equity and M&A Practice provides buyers and targets with a range of insurance, benefits and retirement products and services designed to assist them throughout the life-cycle of the M&A transaction. For M&A activity, IMA's in-house Transactional Liability Practice, Project Managers and Due Diligence Specialists bring depth and experience to address financial uncertainty and improve deal outcomes. For PE firms, IMA offers portfolio-wide solutions including insurance portfolio programs, claim advocacy, risk control, ESG considerations, and a client-facing platform that provides instant access to insurance data, monitoring and tracking. IMA's full-service brokerage model helps buyers maximize enterprise value while ensuring portfolio companies have adequate levels of support and protection throughout the investment lifecycle. This position is open to location, but it is preferred to be located out of an IMA office.

In this role you will have responsibility for building out the Property & Casualty side of the Private Equity and M&A Practice including its growth, thought leadership, innovation, strategy and implementation of the Property & Casualty book.

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Cultivate and maintain professional and proactive communication level with clients, production staff, Project Managers and other associates
  • Establish and monitor broking strategy and growth goals with key carrier partners
  • Identify opportunities and develop proprietary and/or preferred terms and conditions with key carrier partners
  • Identify opportunities to develop proprietary products and services for PE and M&A clients
  • Work with Industry Specialty Leaders, Product Specialty Leaders and Marketing Leaders to develop, communicate, execute and monitor carrier strategy for commercial lines of insurance
  • Develop playbook for non-PE and M&A service teams across IMA to access and utilize PE and M&A underwriters (as deemed appropriate) to drive better results for their PE-backed accounts and ensure their efforts are aligned with the PE and M&A team's marketing strategy
  • Develop, coordinate and monitor strategy with accounts that qualify as IMA Select business
  • Drive new business growth by establishing cross-sell initiatives for Employee Benefits-only and Executive Risk-only accounts
  • Identify opportunities to work with producers to target new business in conjunction with carrier strategies and new businesses with commercial insurance portfolio programs
  • Responsible for overall Property & Casualty insurance broking strategy for deal activity including:
    • Develop marketing/broking strategy for new business to increase revenue to IMA at deal close
    • Establish best in class coverage specifications for Project Managers to utilize
    • Support Project Managers in preparing, submitting, and negotiating new business marketing to insurance carriers to ensure that the client's commercial objectives are achieved
    • Build out a team to support the deal activity broking process
  • Monitor and coordinate training and development of all future team members
  • Attend education classes, seminars, etc. in combination with individual study programs to expand knowledge and skills
  • Participate in industry-specific associations and networking events to cultivate relationships within the industry and expand the IMA brand
  • Attend carrier functions to represent IMA and further cultivate carrier underwriter and management relationships
  • Communicate with all of the Commercial Lines Leaders and Market Presidents regarding department strategies, needs, and performance
  • Participate in prospect meetings and RFPs as it relates to IMA's capabilities and strategies within Property and Casualty
  • Work with marketing team to create and distribute quarterly white papers
  • Establish Commercial section of Fund Stewardship Reports
  • Update marketing material as needed and develop RFP response content
  • Support and demonstrate IMA's core values
  • Value and understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion among all IMA associates
You Should Have:

Required Experience and Skills include but are not limited to:

  • 10+ years of similar or related industry experience
  • 5+ years of management/leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to learn and navigate within Agency Management System (EPIC)
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office products preferred (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Attains and maintains professional designation - i.e., ARM, CPCU, CIC, etc.
  • Property and Casualty insurance license required for state of business
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Possesses a significant level of trust and diplomacy
  • Ability to influence those not reporting directly to you
  • Knowledge of the M&A process, buyer and transaction types, role of advisors, and the due diligence process, with an emphasis on the Property & Casualty workstream
  • Significant personal initiative and professional drive
  • Ability to be successful in a fast-paced, changing environment & willingness to work at the pace and in the hours required by client M&A activity
  • Ability to problem-solve and suggest proactive solutions to Project Managers
  • Ability to delegate to appropriate parties when necessary
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate thoughts clearly and succinctly
