Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Automotive Worker performs a variety of minor repairs and services to maintain motor vehicles. The Automated Worker places and maintains decals on vehicles, checks and replaces batteries, rotates, repairs, and replaces tires, washes, polishes, and cleans interiors and exteriors of vehicles, drains, flushes, and replaces engine, transmission, and differential grease and oils, checks, cleans, calibrates, and replaces spark plugs, cleans, and replaces oil and air filters. The Automotive Worker adjusts brakes, replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts, assists on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring, and other items, maintains tools and equipment, and cleans work areas. The period of performance for this position is not to exceed more than one year, may extend to fulfil mission requirements.
· Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling parts and loads weighing 50pounds.
· Must have a basic understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
· Steel toe shoes are required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted.
· Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
· Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and trailers equipment.
· Diagnose and repair vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
· Repair brake and steering systems.
· Replace or repair engines, transmissions and fuel components as needed.
· Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
· Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations.
· Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g., leaks) Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
· Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
· Performs other duties that may be assigned to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.
