Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Job Purpose:

Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Maintain overall good working relationship with co-workers and management team at all levels. Professionalism is a must.

Job Duties:

• Ensures proper operation of machinery and troubleshoots malfunctions of mechanical and electrical systems sometimes by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer's instructions.
• Duly notes issues in the daily logbook and if work is more comprehensive, fills out work order. This also covers rounds, readings and water testing on steam generator.
• Completes preventive maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, and production machinery. Determine excessive wear and ways to correct those issues. Notes any issues on the pm and fills out work request as needed.
• Maintain a clean shop area including tool carts. Adhere to company GMPs. This includes cleaning the shop area before the end of your shift without fail. Housekeeping is a part of this job.
• Daily documentation is a must and all paperwork to be completed before the end of shift.
• Locates problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and forms corrective action to problem following above guidelines.
• Fabricates and repairs parts by using machine shop equipment. This includes all phases of welding with tig, mig and arc equipment. Cutting equipment such as plasma and oxygen/acetylene torches.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Lock-out tag-out procedures to be followed without deviation. Failure to do so can lead to immediate termination.
• Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration a plus.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills including the use of multi-meters, and other testing equipment is necessary to this position.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and assisting wherever necessary.
