As an integral part of Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley’s ReStore team, the ideal candidate will be responsible and conscientious and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Responsible for leading, managing and growing the ReStore for Habitat for Humanity of the NRV. Performs complex professional and administrative work including achieving operational, financial, volunteer, customer, and donor goals within the ReStore. Performs special assignments and related work as required. This full-time position requires 40 hours per week, and the ability to work evenings, and weekends. Open availability is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

An employee in this class performs important operations and administrative work involving planning, organizing, and coordinating the major ReStore functions for the Habitat for Humanity. Functions performed include organizational development, high level public relations, employee relations including training, hiring manager, and performance appraisals. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director. The ReStore Manager must maintain an interactive relationship with the Habitat for Humanity Restore Staff, Administrative Staff in coordinating operations, and confidentiality must always be maintained.

· Opening and closing of the ReStore for scheduled daily hours.

· Daily sales/cash register reconciliation and deposits.

· Maintain strict safety policies.

Oversee the effective merchandising of the sales floor, maximizing available display space and aesthetic appeal. Use inventory control and effective pricing strategies to maximize the value of the merchandise and ensure appropriate turnover.

· Work with the processing team to ensure that all donations are cleaned, tested, researched, and priced before going to the sales floor.

· Work with Marketing Team in developing and implementing marketing and public relations campaigns for increasing donations and sales.

· Work closely with the Executive Director and Administrative staff to ensure ReStore policies and procedures are followed.

· Achieve excellent customer, donor, and volunteer ratings.

· Work to build donations and donor base through positive relationships, donor outreach and procurement. Collaboration with Buyer and Procurement Specialist is a must.

· Dedication to and ability to articulate the mission of the Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley.

· Demonstrated competency to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

· Comprehensive knowledge of retail sales operations management and procedures and retail sales techniques.

· Ability to produce word-processing documents, spreadsheets, reports, and desktop publishing in a timely and accurate manner.

· Comprehensive knowledge of business math, finance, and English grammar.

· Ability to write clearly, concisely, and effectively, and to follow complex oral and written policies, procedures, and laws.

· Ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgment, and prioritize assignments, accomplish assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision.

· Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information overseen within the office.

Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:

· Growth in Retail Revenues based on predetermined goals and objectives.

· Maintain profitability percentages based on predetermined goals of objectives.

· On a year-to-year basis increase donations both household and non-household items.

· Based on statistical data, sales per square foot equal or greater than restores in Virginia of similar size.

· Recruits, interviews applicants and recommends applicants for further consideration, trains new staff.

· Oversees the daily workflow of the department including ReStore Associates, Warehouse Associates and Drivers, Buyer, and Procurement Specialist, including Volunteers.

· Provide special training programs to staff as required.

· Responds to or refers to inquiries regarding employment practices.

· Collect, record and file staff performance evaluations.

· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

· Assists with disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.

· Sales generator and a team leader able to build both customer and donor base.

· Self-motivated, dependable, and enthusiastic. Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.

· Ability to manage and defuse challenging situations with tact.

· Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

· Commitment to a safe working environment.

· Ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers while also having the ability to perform most tasks in the absence of staff or volunteers.

· Computer knowledgeable; including Microsoft Office, QuickBooks (including POS software), UAttend (time management), or willingness and capability to learn and use these programs.

The position requires occasional interaction with the Habitat for Humanity Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Volunteer Coordinator. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in groups.

Education:

Required: Education equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by administrative experience in operations and retail sales management.

Preferred: A four-year (Bachelor’s) degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration, or related field.

Other:

Must be a citizen of the United States with ability to provide employment eligibility documentation.

Subject to a complete criminal history background search with acceptable results.

Must be able to respond to the ReStore within one hour from place or primary residence.

Lift and/or exert force up to 50 lbs. occasionally or insignificant weights frequently; sitting occasionally.

Work Location: One location, travel less than 25%
