Job Description

The Business Relationship Manager offers a unique opportunity to represent NA Accounts Payable in a strategic liaison role with business partners and stakeholders. This role will be responsible for driving best practices, process methodologies, align services and business needs through collaboration.

This position will report to the Associate Director NA Accounts Payable Operations for North America Finance. This role will develop an effective and workable framework for managing and improving Accounts Payable Customer support in the organization. This role proactively initiates engagement with business partners and drives solutions that best support business needs and demands. The Business Relationship Manager should be able to identify, define and assess value-add opportunities, establish and maintain strategic relationship with appropriate level and key stakeholders. Manage stakeholders’ perceptions and expectations with all Accounts Payable related services.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
  • Proactively serves as a trusted advisor and is a primary contact from Accounts Payable for business partners and stakeholders.
  • Possesses ability to influence change by maintaining a positive relationship with stakeholders and align services to business needs through collaboration.
  • Identify business partners needs/demands and ensure continual improvements opportunities are being fed in.
  • Understand business direction, key changes and needs. Review, challenge and clarify requirements with the business partners.
  • Foster dialogue with fact-based analysis and reporting. Effectively manages transparency and process compliance.
  • Meets regularly with business partners and acts as the voice of the business for Accounts Payable functions.
  • Continually challenge and review key practices and decisions to drive improvement; identify opportunities.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and research best practices.
  • Lead and plan unified communication and collaboration with stakeholders ensuring needs/demands are properly understood to improve business processes.
  • Liaise and bridge gaps between business partners and Accounts Payable by ensuring standards are adhered to facilitate continuous value-driven improvements.
  • Contribute to the design, communication and management of service partnership agreements with the stakeholders.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations to business leaders to make informed decisions based on trends, performance and future projections.
  • Build enduring relationship with business partners through cooperation and acting on values that promotes well- being and mutual value.
  • Solves complex or unusual problems in consideration of potential impact and make well-informed decisions.
  • Applies compliance requirements within scope of responsibility, describe end results by connecting action and desired outcomes.
  • Manage change, including requirements; proactively drive improvements by delivering high quality consistent results.
  • Monitor business partner satisfaction and take actions to increase satisfaction levels where appropriate.
  • Report on performance and Metrics.
  • Communicate with Accounts Payable business leaders and other stakeholders to ensure awareness of progress and results.
  • Ensures the oversight for resolution for escalated issues for business partners.
  • Recommend training programs targeting with specific areas of improvement through monthly quarterly forums.
  • Able to draft and document business processes.
  • Capability to engage customers during process designs discussions and presentations.
Knowledge, Experience and skills:
  • BA or BS degree in accounting, project management, or equivalent is required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience and a BA or BS degree.
  • Experience successfully leading large, complex programs and projects and/or in business/PTP consulting/management roles.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Track record of successfully working with internal and/or external stakeholders as a thought leader to oversee the alignment of Accounts Payable solutions with business strategies.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Accounts Payable and the assigned business area(s) to identify and communicate how APP solutions can support the achievement of short- and long-term business goals.
  • Ability to persuade, influence and explore positions and alternatives to reach outcomes.
  • Establishing accountability, establishing timelines and establishing goals are paramount.
  • Leadership and negotiation skills and experience/in-depth knowledge of the business and business requirements analysis.
  • Good understanding of AP functions, general accounting practices and SOX requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building and business partnering skills required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Forward looking thinker who can articulate the need for and implement process improvements.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Lean Six sigma experience preferred.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry is preferred.
  • Experience in multi-national organizational is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel and Power Point skills.
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP system is required.
