Our Vision for this Role

As a Transportation Operations Manager you are a critical member of our Supply Chain team, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the business. You will own and lead logistics for a region of the country, with accountability for linehauls and store deliveries with an annual budget of over $200M. From ensuring on time delivery of goods to our stores and managing carrier performance, you are critical in enabling the treasure hunt experience our customers love.

You will be assigned a mix of core responsibilities in order to deliver exceptional supply chain operational performance, drive cost savings and enable process improvement to support our continued

growth. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Consistently deliver on key performance indicators around safety, service consistency, quality, capacity, and cost;
  • Collaboratively drive the business, working with partners from across the company (Stores, Store Operations, Distribution, Distribution Services, Finance);
  • Manage carrier performance, recognizing and celebrating wins, and coaching and holding accountable when performance does not meet expectations;
  • Support growth by optimizing existing logistics flow as well as incorporating new store openings into existing network footprint;
  • Implement all aspect of our Q4 strategy to ensure successful peak season and year end inventory execution;
  • Influence and lead peers and cross –functional partners as project lead for process improvement initiatives;
  • Foster an open door culture and continually grow and develop yourself and those around you.

The Skills that will Make You Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in an operations role, with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment; product moves quickly through our supply chain network, it is important to react quickly to incoming requests.
  • A self-director who can manage their own timelines and set priorities.
  • Strong Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills; no day is the same in off-price retail, the ability to assess situations quickly and provide alternate solutions is key to success.
  • Ability to influence others without authority and lead the business with vision and strategy.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships; you are the face of TJX to many of our external strategic partners.
  • Flexible and adaptable; priorities change frequently based on business demands, the ability to change direction quickly is critical.

The Responsibilities You will have in this Role

  • Act as a primary point of contact for store logistics and serve as the liaison to partners including Stores, Store Operations, Distribution and Purchasing.
  • Manage carrier performance ensuring store deliveries are made consistently on time and with high quality.
  • Monitor and report on carrier performance and store delivery schedules, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • With an eye on store service levels, build optimized network and store delivery runs.
  • Collaborate with the distribution centers and Store Operations in supporting and integrating new store openings into existing delivery schedules.
  • Monitor payment of all freight invoices. Ensure all freight claims are processed and filed in a timely manner and reports on open and collected claim status. Prepare all monthly cost reports with explanations for variances from last year, budget and actual.
  • Manage and develop team members for future growth within the department and organization.
