SALUD FAMILIAR LA FE, INC. JOB DESCRIPTION     Registered Dietitian       I.        JOB SUMMARY             Assist with developing and implementing quality assurance program (i.e. ongoing evaluation of individual counseling, nutrition education classes, clinical procedures, etc.); assist with the implementation of Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA); provide training on nutrition related topics and nutrition assessment procedures; assist with WIC Certification Specialist (WCS) Program; assist with completion and application of Nutrition Education and Breast Feeding Plan  application; provide high-risk individual counseling; conduct facilitated discussion nutrition education classes; provide consultation regarding appropriate issuance of prescribed special formulas.   II.        ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS         Responsible for greeting and providing courteous assistance to all individuals entering the         clinic.         Contributing to the development of policies and procedures, evaluate outcome measures           and apply technical assistance to programs.         Responsible for the effective administration and/or management of specific wellness                 projects and program as assigned.         Assist with program support functions.         Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships and keeps lines of                       communication open with health care team and community agencies.         Responsible for performing outreach functions in order to reach target groups e.g. women,       infants and children when deemed necessary by the WIC Program Manager.         Attends and participates in regular departmental, organizational and committee meetings,         conferences, workshops, etc. when deemed necessary by the WIC Program Manager.         Participates in and/or contributes to community wellness projects and initiatives.         Performs other duties as assigned.   III.       MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS    Work Experience       WIC Program experience preferred.         Experience in community nutrition, pediatric nutrition, maternal nutrition.         Two years paid experience as a nutritionist or dietitian.               B.        License/Registration/Certification Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association is required.       Education       Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science and Nutrition           with 24 semester hours of coursework in foods and nutrition.         Completion of dietetic internship from an accredited institution. Skills       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships amongst staff and                     participants.         Ability to exercise good judgment in unusual or stressful situations.         Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.         Ability to plan and organize community events fostering health promotion/disease                     prevention activities.         Ability to work effectively with local, state and national entities.         Ability to represent La Fe in public functions, presentations, organizations, etc, when                 deemed necessary by the WIC Program Manager.         Ability to relate well to persons of all ages and cultures.         Ability to plan, develop and evaluate nutrition education materials.         Knowledge of public health nutrition with an emphasis in maternal and child health.          10.     Knowledge of educational methods, with special emphasis on the adult population.          11.     Knowledge of word processing equipment and software.          12.     Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for                    the age of the participants served.         Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.         Ability to identify and categorize each participant's age-specific grouping of needs, such as       those for infant, adolescent or adult population.          Bilingual in English/Spanish.   IV.       PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS               Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.     El Paso Times.
