Employment Consultant The Employment Consultant is responsible for providing job development training, on-site training, integration support, follow-along and advocacy services for persons served as well as assistance in developing employment opportunities.  Will work closely with funding sources to communicate status and needs of persons served.   Essential Responsibilities: Job Development:Understands and communicates Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), On-the-Job-           Training (OJT) benefits to potential employers.Obtains applications and interviews for clients related to their plan for employment and discovery profile.Completes and returns applications for clients as needed.Takes clients job developing to businesses related to their employment goal.Provides transportation to and from interview as needed.Participates in client interviews as needed.Identifies potential accommodations needed for employment.   Job Seeking Skills Training: a. Provides mock interviewing to client as needed. b. Provides application training and completion as needed. Develops cover letters, résumés and reference pages as needed. Purchases clothing/tools as requested by funding source.  On-site Training: Attends employer orientation with clients as needed. Learns individual job responsibilities and develops into a working plan. Acquaints client with job site including location of time clock, bathrooms, fire exits, etc. Introduces person served to supervisor and co-workers and fosters relationships. Models/modifies job duties for client as needed. Performs job duties with client to maintain 100% efficiency while client is in training. Identifies accommodations needed and negotiates needs with the employer. Transportation: Develops transportation schedule to meet needs of clients and parents.Rides local transportation with client to familiarize with bus route as needed.Monitors client accessing bus system after training as needed.Provides transportation to and from employment site as needed.Provides transportation to and from related agencies as needed.  Records: Maintains case records with each contact for each client. Emails monthly case records to funding source on each client. Maintains all necessary paperwork for compliance with CARF standards. Submits milestone billing to accounting, VR, and supervisor. Submits hourly billing to supervisor.   Follow-Along Services: Stops by employment sites to visit clients who qualify for Supported Employment Follow-Along Services (Stateline) or Extended Services (Waiver) at least twice per month. Makes contact with a member of management or their designee to check on client's progress at least once per month. Assists clients with job sharpening skills, problem solving, and basic job maintenance as needed.Attends annual ISPs as availability allows.   Relationships: Maintains positive and appropriate interactions with clients, parents, co-workers, and supervisor. Works closely with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, the local business community and other agency staff to provide comprehensive vocational services.Maintain acceptable attendance. Participates in client meetings and requests additional meetings as needed. Must be willing to work weekends, evenings or overtime hours as needed.Mentor other staff on job responsibilities when appropriate.Attend meetings and conferences pertinent to the position.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Education, training & experience: High School Diploma or its equivalent plus: Two years full-time experience in this industry, workshops or a related business.May substitute two years training in a vocational or technical school or in a college with emphasis on developmental skills plus one year full-time experience in this industry and/or workshop. Must be able to complete Online Basic Certification Training (includes two face-to-face support days) within first six months of employment. Each online training consists of online content modules and two in-person, face-to-face meetings with EST trainers. (Estimated training completion time is 30-35 hours.) The in-person meetings are held at Easter Seals Crossroads, 4740 Kingsway Dr., Indianapolis.Must be able to complete Advanced Employment Specialist Training within first year of employment. (This innovative, advanced training series provides employment specialists with information about effective representation for job seekers, insight into building valuable relationships with community businesses, and tools for negotiating individualized jobs.  Each in-person training is paired with a follow-up webinar.) Critical skills/expertise: Have strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read, analyze and interpret general information.Have basic computer skills for data entry, word processing and communication avenue. Other: Ability to pass background checks, which includes BMV, County criminal history, Indiana limited State criminal history, National criminal history, pre-employment drug screening and clearance from the State Nurse Aid Registry and the EPLS & OIG Medicaid Fraud registry.Willing to participate in staff development activities as assigned.Willing to observe and follow all agency and departmental philosophies, policies, procedures and the Agency Standards of Conduct and Code of Ethics.Must have dependable transportation, hold a valid Indiana driver's license with an insurable driving record and have proof of state required liability insurance on personal vehicle.Must have ability to transport clients in personal vehicle for purpose of community integration.Demonstrate ability to drive agency vans/lift vans.Must have ability to obtain agency approved First Aid/CPR certification when assigned, including demonstrating the ability to perform chest compressions at floor level.Must have a negative TB test/result if applicable according to position.Must have a telephone in residence and/or available by cell phone.   Essential position characteristics Physical requirements:  Must be able to hear, see, push, pull, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, reach, kneel when applicable to the environment. Must be willing to travel using personal vehicle or agency vans.Must be physically able to assist persons served in carrying out assigned job duties in community jobs. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. as required in community employment.Must be able to view a computer screen or other close work less than 18 inches. 2.
