About this job

Our client, located in Ann Arbor, MI is searching for an applications engineer to work in their bearing division, who is extremely strong and capable when it comes to communicating with the customer, and being able to function as the voice of our client to customer engineering departments.

This individual will be at the customer site 1-2 days per week. There are 42 tiered customers that this group works with. Majority of the travel will be in the Detroit, Toronto, and Ohio areas.

When not traveling, they will be in the Ann Arbor Technical Center. Will work with sales, quality, customer service groups, and product development groups. They will also be communicating with Japanese Liaison individuals. Must of the design work is done in Japan, so these individuals will work directly with the Japanese customers.

This is completely independent of the steering group and is specifically focused on bearings and automotive. These bearings are going into engines (Alternators, transmissions, drivelines, ect.), so prior transmission experience will be key for this individual.

Work Environment: large technical center with about 200 employees; Will act as a liaison between the company and the customer. Will spend 1-2 days per week traveling to typically local customer sites. Will be provided with a company car. Only about 10% of travel will be outside the bordering states in Michigan.

NSK has a large corporate facility located on the East side of Ann Arbor. They are a Tier 1 automotive company who also supplies bearings to the aviation and industrial industries. They primary division is in their steering side here in Ann Arbor. This headquarters is extremely clean, open, and their employees are all very friendly as well.
Qualifications: Must Haves:
- Bachelorʻs Degree in Mechanical Engineering or engineering equivalent degree
- 5+ yearsʻ experience working with automotive transmissions/drivelines
- 6-8 years of experience with general automotive/engineering experience
- DFMEA, DVPR, FTA knowledge
