Medical Coder - Full-time / Part-time

Immediate need for a Medical Coder in Perry, IA.

6 month contract to hire

Pay: $15/hr

Job Description: Coding inpatient medical claims

Maintain and update patient EHR (electronic health records) with: diagnosis change, payable ICD-10 codes for specialized lab testing, payable ICD-10 codes for inpatient or outpatient coding following guidelines

Investigate and research on any missing or incorrect information on claims

General charge entry- mostly anesthesia charges

Communicate with physicians and clinical assistants via email or phone regarding documentation/questions

Reading and analyzing patient records

Using codes to bill insurance providers

Managing detailed, specifically-coded information

Maintaining patient confidentiality and information security

MUST HAVES:
Certified in inpatient or outpatient coding
1+ years experience in central billing office or similar setting
