About this job

Develop and maintain machine specifications, process improvements and automation systems along with manufacturing and process engineering teams. Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire life-cycle of the product and processes.
Experience should include PLC, PC, HMI, SCADA software, safety devices, servo drives, process hardware and robotics. Ongoing continuous improvement of production functionality is a vital part of the role. The Senior Controls Engineer reports to the Factory Automation Engineering Manager.
End Results and Deliverables:
1. Develop and maintain standards for automation equipment and software platforms used at all bearing manufacturing locations.
2. Design, program and deploy sophisticated automated systems.
3. Research, concept, simulate, test, and prove out new and innovative solutions.
4. Install and start-up systems in manufacturing facilities domestically and internationally.
5. Disseminate all information and documentation to process engineering and maintenance groups.
Innovative Advanced Automated System Development
* Innovative approach to problem solving. Research and develop new products, tools and manufacturing systems.
* Establish test plans and control test plan execution for R&D & concept equipment
* Conduct research and evaluation of present equipment for future upgrades and replacement with new and advanced technology.
* Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits.
* System designs must insure reliability and maintainability.
* Validate new automated equipment for deployment into production
* Must transitioning products and processes from prototype to production capable machines.
* Create machine interactions with plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to communicate product acceptability, machine status, and process variables.
Core Responsibilities
* Design, write, and debug PLC ladder logic with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable. PLC platforms will interact with subsystems such as conveyors, robots, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), machine vision, and other third party equipment.
* Design and implement (ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
* Lay out new industrial electrical control panels, which are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant, and create electrical schematics and manage electrical panel build, field wiring and installations.
* Generate easy to use HMI screens for complex machinery while providing error logs and other key data to users.
