A successful Buyer will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of standard business English; principles and practices of purchasing, including ethics and Internet research; data collection techniques for reporting and analyzing
  • Ability to work independently, analyze and evaluate data, and make recommendations and decision, on complicated or high-profile projects; prepare and present written and oral reports; prepare new bids
  • Ability to perform math calculations such as calculating interest, discounts, and shipping charges; use common units of measure; negotiate within established parameters; maintain an effective liaison with vendors, management staff, and co-workers; use personal computer
  • Office procedures and office automation software (Oracle, database management, MS Office products - Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Oracle a plus
  • Sound organizational, written and verbal communication skills including a willingness to share, collaborate, and inform peers and supervisor of activities.

Essential duties and responsiblities include:

  • Processes requisitions; places orders
  • Investigates complaints and secures adjustments; follows up on deliveries and receipts; supports the Procure to Pay system.
  • Processes RMAs and otherwise supports any reverse logistic needs.
  • Maintains data and prepares reports using office automation software; makes sure that all business transactions and activities are compliant to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
  • Maintains and improves vendor relationship by maintaining SCM code of conduct
  • Assists with non-routine duties as required. Takes advantage of cross-training opportunities.  This list is not meant to be a comprehensive inventory of all duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.
