Technical Writer - Full-time / Part-time

Technical Writer – Contract to Hire Position - $25 to $35 per hour – Akron Area

Job Summary:

PrideStaff is conducting a search for a Technical Writer for our client who is a fast-growing Engineering and production firm based in the Akron area. Our client is searching for someone to join their team as a contractor, with the potential to be hired full time. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, explain complex information in a clear and concise manner and working with technical staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions. If you have previous experience as a Technical Writer in the technical, mechanical, or industrial fields, we encourage you to submit an application.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals
• Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts
• Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals
• Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
• Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
• Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
• Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
• Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
• Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
• Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
• Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
• Standardize content across platforms and media
• Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
• Revise documents as new issues arise

Desire Skills and Background:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or technical field
• Proven experience working in a technical writing position
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
• Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
