Overview:


The M&M's Retail Financial Controller is responsible for leading the financial accounting and control activities for US, Europe and Asia to ensure compliance with the Mars Finance Manual and local regulations. The Controller team is responsible for areas including, but not limited to: Financial Reporting, Cash (NCFO), General Accounting, Supply Finance, Tax, and Loss Prevention Co-piloting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a role model line manager by building relationships remotely, developing a team of highly engaged associates and leading efforts that continuously drive improvement.
  • Oversee period-, quarter-, and year-end close process to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely submission of financials across all locations.
  • Own relationship with PwC, Internal Audit, and McLean Controller team. Responsible for ensuring changes in accounting principles and audit findings are addressed timely.
  • Responsible for global NCFO delivery and managing net working capital improvements.
  • Implement any lease accounting changes including new leases, terminations, revisions, extensions, and renewals.
  • Manage the Annual Variable Pay and Sales Incentive Plans, including governance and submissions.
  • Oversee and create clear guidance on accounting related to supply finance, including primes, conversion costs, and logistics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in and manage secure internal control environment, including appropriate segregation of duties, access controls, adequate documentation, and timely and thorough review of reconciliations.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention to investigate, report, and implement learnings from instances of theft and fraud. Be a role model for ethics, integrity and trust in all areas including ensuring identification of and appropriate responses to fraud and theft.
  • Own relationship with support functions (e.g., Treasury, Tax, MFS, and Currency) and ensure appropriate unit compliance with all related requirements.
  • Responsible for partnering with Mars IS, Treasury, and Retail Ops to ensure compliance to Purchasing Card Industry (?PCI?) standards and cash handling policies.
  • Partner with Mars Tax and third party tax consultants on tax filings which include corporate income tax, sales & use tax, property tax and local tax.
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed, including channel expansion and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Accounting or similar concentration
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 7+ years in accounting
  • Experience with financial statement reporting obligations, including an understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience in managing and developing direct reports, preferred
  • Cash forecasting experience preferrred
