Technician Job Description
Technicians apply specialized coatings in various settings within the HVAC industry. Our focus is corrosion protection and refurbishment of all HVAC units. Technicians usually work as part of a team, although that depends on job assignment.
Technician Duties and Responsibilities
To accomplish their primary goal of corrosion protection and refurbishment of HVAC units Technicians perform many tasks.
Clean, Prepare and Repair Surfaces
Technicians must first prepare the surface they are going to coat. If there are previous finishes on the surface, they remove them using masking, media blast or grinding. Then, they clean and smooth the surface and let it dry before coating. Where necessary technicians will remove and replace corroded sheet.
Prepare Coats
Before starting a job,Technicians prepare the coatings based on in-house protocols.
Apply Coat
Applicators use a variety of techniques and tools to apply coatings. They may use spray equipment, rollers or brushes.Technicians must choose the best tool for the job at hand. They coat on primers and finishing coats. Some Technicians must use special safety equipment such as self-contained suits or protective eye wear.
Clean Work Areas
Technicians clean up the area after they have finished a job. They must carefully follow all guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.
Maintain Equipment
Technicians are responsible for maintenance of their tools and equipment, some of which are quite technical. They must be able to troubleshoot any problems that the equipment may have.

- Experience with handheld and power tools
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
- Basic math skills
- Good communication ability
- Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
- Attention to detail
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Be able to be assigned to projects within the state of Florida for extended periods.
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license.
- Pass a background check
- Report on progress to managers and customers.
- Problem-solving abilities
- Good physical condition and stamina
- Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
- Ability to work with all levels of employee
- Technicians who are able to adapt to local conditions and customer requirements.
