About this job
Established manufacturer located near Oakdale, NY (Suffolk County) is in immediate need of an experienced Purchasing Agent! This company manufactures metal-related parts/devices for the Defense, Transportation-Maritime, Rail, Air, Trucking, etc., industries.
Main responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Purchase materials involved with manufacturing these systems such as; forgings castings, military/commercial hardware, textiles, as well as various types of outside services, such as plating, non-destructive testing, paint, etc.
• Manage operations, expediting and follow each purchasing job through production to final output
• Establish & maintain a reliable vendor base from all over the world – USA, Europe, Turkey, Korea, etc.
• Read through Tech data packages; send out RFQ’s and submit bid package to Sales Dept.
Requirements (only candidates with the below will be considered for this role):
• 5+ years’ minimum experience in a purchasing role from the MANUFACTURING industry
• Knowledge of government guidelines such as ITAR, Buy American Act, Domestic Specialty Metals and other required specified government contractual requirements
• Ability to read and interpret blueprint/schematic drawings
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficient with MS Office Suite
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience + medical benefits & 401k
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Friday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
