Position Summary
The surgical technologist is responsible for scrubbing of surgical cases, assisting with nursing care of all infant, pediatric, adolescence, adult, and geriatric patients in the operating room and assisting in the preparation of supplies and equipment for operative procedures.

Our staff strives for excellence every step of the way, from the time the patient is scheduled for surgery, through preadmission and testing, pre-operative preparation, surgery and recovery. Our strong commitment to patient safety is evidenced by the extremely low incidence of infection in our surgical patients. YRMC offers surgical services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Surgical procedures performed at YRMC include traditional surgery, minimally invasive (laparoscopic) procedures, and laser surgery using the latest available equipment and technology. Surgical procedures performed at YRMC include: General Surgery, Bariatric (Weight Loss), Dental, Eye, Heart, Orthopedic, Pediatric, Podiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastic/Reconstructive, Thoracic, Urology, Vascular and Open Heart. YRMC's surgical facilities include ten operating suites in the main operating room, two of which are dedicated to open hearts, four operating suites in the women's section, and four operating suites in the Outpatient Surgery Department. They also include three Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs), often called recovery rooms, where patients are cared for immediately after surgery. One PACU serves the main operating room, one is located in the outpatient surgery department and other is located in Women's Surgical Services. Are you searching for your Season in the Sun? External Education Education Required: High School or equivalent; Graduate of a school of surgical technology or two years of experience as a surgical technologist (may include training); CPR certification.

Education Preferred: Certification as surgical technologist from American Society of Surgical Technologists.

External Experience Experience Required: 2+ years of experience as a surgical technologist (may include training) or graduate of a school of surgical technology.
Must complete all unit competencies within 6 months.

Experience Preferred: 1-2 years operating room experience as a surgical technologist
