About this job

This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is responsible for providing QA input into all facets of the project, beginning with the design review to the creation and execution of test cases. The individual in this role is responsible for performing front end as well as backend validations including functional, API (Soap), DB and regression testing. This individual should be well versed with Manual as well as automation testing processes/methodologies. Assists with implementing test plans and defining testing strategies. Working to fulfill the department's objective of moving towards Automation. This position requires an independent and creative thinker who needs only occasional minimal direction. The individual should have experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as he/she will handle multiple concurrent assignments. Major responsibility will include coordinating testing across entire projects, and, as such, will be helping others on the team ensure code coverage and overall quality. Also responsible for all other duties as assigned.

  • Work with product owners to establish acceptance tests and communicate with developers these requirements.

Influence

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization.
  • Consult and collaborate with Project managers, business owners, and database/software developers.

Drive

  • Actively involved in test planning, analyzing the requirements, designing test suits, developing test cases/test scenarios, and executing Test cases
  • Create and execute manual and automated test cases and document results.
  • Provide estimations, help investigate defects for defect resolutions and maintain the records
  • Manage small projects independently
  • Mentor junior resources and collaborate with team members
  • Utilize TFS all test management, development, execution, documentation and defect management activities.
  • Well versed with DB queries
  • Participates in day to day testing activities for mobile devices as well as non-mobile applications
  • Estimate level of effort across all of the QA phases in complexity and raise risks wherever needed
  • Involved in Automation planning and execution using Selenium

Maintain

  • Understand and work in Waterfall and Agile software development environment.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage competing priorities and utilize problem solving skills to resolve any identified real or potential issues and/or bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and enhance testing suites and procedures.
  • Show creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain documentation for quality assurance procedures.

Equivalent Education Level Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education.

Experience Required: Minimum 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance with a solid understanding of software QA testing standards. Must possess an understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) with in-depth product knowledge. Experienced with Web based applications using latest Internet technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, MVC) and C#, Hands on experience with Test Management tools (Test manager, Quality Center), Source control tool- TFS (Team Foundation Server), and RDBMS-Microsoft SQL Server and experienced working in fast spaced Agile-Scrum methodology. Exposure to Automation testing standards and tools.

Knowledge Required: In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle. Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Visual studio (TFS, Test manager). Knowledge testing Web Services using SOAPUI or equivalent tools, exposure to various Automation tools (e.g Selenium, UFT/QTP, and SoapUI). Adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision, strong written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills. QA related certification a plus

Physical Requirements: Typing; data entry; grasping; use of office equipment to include computers; ability to travel to, be physically present at, and complete the physical requirements of the position at any assigned location. Ability to quickly learn and successfully utilize all technology required to perform essential job functions.
