Overview: Perform short order cook duties. Set up, stock work and clean cook station. Responsible for the daily operations of the hotline and general kitchen cleaning duties. Work as a member of a team to provide exemplary customer service. Communicate professionally and respectfully. Maintain an organized, sanitary and safe workspace.
Responsibilities:
- Cooking Duties:
- Set up station according to restaurant guidelines.
- Prepare, cook and plate all food items cooked to order in a timely and sanitary manner.
- Use portion control and specific presentation as set by the restaurant.
- Ensure all food and cookware is stocked for the incoming shift.
- Safety & Sanitation:
- Clean and maintain workstations in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Observe all food and physical safety requirements established by the organization.
- General Duties:
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any concerns to the Kitchen Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Good communication skills (Spanish and English a plus).
- Prep or line cook experience.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by business needs.
- Trained in the use of knives and cutting boards; thermometers and temperatures.
- Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
- Must be able speak, read and understand basic cooking directions.
- Must be able to hear with 100% accuracy.
Skills/Aptitudes:
- Able to work in a high-energy and demanding environment.
- Works well under pressure.
- Able to identify and properly address problems with equipment and work environment.
- Able to take direction.
- Able to learn and follow work guidelines based on Health Department, OSHA and ADA regulations.
- Ability to learn the proper use and safety requirements of all kitchen equipment.
- Must obtain Food Handler's permit from Marin County.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of sanitation/cleanliness in all areas.
