Job Description: Childcare Provider RELATIONSHIPS: Supervised by Director of Childrens and Family Ministries POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the close supervision of the Director, performs childcare duties, maintaining a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages newborn to 6. Assists with childcare for Elementary aged children occasionally as needed. HOURS: Part time, hourly , Sundays 8:30am-12:30pm POSITION DUTIES: Provides children with quality supervision, focused attention, and caring service. Provides a clean, safe, and enriching childcare environment. May require cleaning duties including body fluid cleanup, sanitizing, and light housekeeping. Prepares room for specific activities such as lunch, naps, games, etc. Implements activities and curriculum for children under the guidance of Director, designed to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program. Responds to each childs needs promptly and engages children with age-appropriate activities. Observes specific parent directions for feeding, washing, sleep times, activities, and accommodations for special needs. Maintains a positive rapport with all parents and volunteers, remaining respectful of parents and children. Communicates any concerns or issues with children, parents, rooms, or equipment to Director in a timely manner. Exhibits good listening skills when conflict or discipline issues arise and problem solves professionally. Defers to supervisor if issues need further resolution. Performs duties and responsibilities in compliance with Bright from the Start Georgia Dept. of Early Care and Learning Rules for Child Care Learning Centers and all First Presbyterian Church policies Understands and follows established procedures for security, discipline, health & hygiene, and safety. Assumes other duties as requested, including help with administrative tasks or other projects at times when children are not on site. Maintains confidentiality in all matters. QUALIFICATIONS: Previous childcare experience desired. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass a criminal background check. Must pass a T.B. test, and should have annual flu and whooping cough vaccinations (to be paid by FPC). Must obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certifications within two months of hire and keep them current. KNOWLEDGE and SPECIAL SKILLS: Knowledge of basic child care and feeding, as well as an understanding of infant and child development Dependability, an excellent work ethic, and strong communications skills Ability to work well with children Ability to move and react quickly to a variety of circumstances Professional communication skills, including communication with parents and age-appropriate communication with children; Good judgment; Patience SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to: lifting children or heavy items, bending, standing, crouching, climbing, or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions, which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases). Must be able to supervise multiple activities simultaneously and respond to emergencies. Must be able to communicate effectively with children.
