Job Summary

Performs general and vascular diagnostic ultrasound examinations within the department, nursing units and off site centers.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • CPR: Healthcare Provider
  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) eligible and have certification within 14 months after hire required.


Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in minor surgical procedures, such as biopsies, cyst aspirations, etc.
  • Assists in the training of new employees.
  • Responsible for technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans with ability to recognize visible anatomical structures.
  • Ensures that an adequate clinical history is available to correlate with the ultrasound examination. Verifies information with the requisition and patient chart.
  • Follows hospital patient-identification policy prior to performing examination.
  • Keeps examination room clean and well stocked. Regularly cleans equipment and keeps in good repair.
  • Maintains records of examinations. Schedules cases to coordinate with other examinations.
  • Performs all ultrasound examinations. Completes required documentation.
  • Positions and transfers patients. Explains the procedure to patients or patient families.
  • Promptly upon completion of examination, enters and transmits patient information to PACS.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Florida general Radiology Technologist License preferred.
  • Previous experience in pediatric ultrasound technology preferred.
  • Register Vascular Technologist is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Ability to problem solves to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual client's need.
