POSITION SUMMARY

Field Interviewers will work on the Evaluation of the Fresh Empire Campaign on Tobacco (EFECT) study. FIs on this study will be responsible for conducting computer assisted interviews with eligible individuals. Additional waves may be fielded every 6 months.

POSITION TYPE

This position is part time, offering roughly 20 hours/week for a period of 3 months. We are looking for individuals who will be able to work evening and weekend hours, and are able to commit to the duration of the project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Be available for at least 20-25 hours per week to conduct interviewing during the field data collection period.
  • Have reliable personal automobile available for business use.
  • Adhere to a schedule set by supervisor that ensures respondents are contacted in a timely fashion.
  • Administer an RTI-provided computer-assisted questionnaires to youth in the home.
  • Contact households over the phone to collect parental permission for their youth to complete an online survey.
  • Be available and willing to work primarily evenings and weekend hours as required by your specific assignment.
  • Complete the required number of interviews by the end of the data collection period in an efficient and timely manner according to project protocols.
  • Contact participants in advanced of the scheduled home visit to confirm or reschedule the appointment.
  • Obtain cooperation of study participants by effectively answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Obtain informed parental permission from adults and child assent for child participation.
  • Accurately complete all project documentation, including electronic survey instruments and all reporting forms.
  • Ability to read text verbatim from a computer screen and paper documents.
  • Adhere to project deadlines for completing interview sand reporting progress.
  • Keep project information confidential.
  • Ability to carry project-related equipment, approximately 10 pounds, up steps and from car to household.
  • Ability to complete all required activities in a professional manner, while maintaining the integrity of all information acquired.
  • Maintain a professional, cooperative relationship with your FS and other project staff, objectively sharing your thoughts while displaying an understanding of project management’s concerns.
  • Be receptive—not defensive—when given feedback from project personnel about your performance, striving to learn and improve.
  • Prompt, reliable, and accurate reporting to FS.
  • Electronically record on a daily basis hours worked and submit time and expense reports weekly.
  • Must have regular access to a WiFi or broadband internet for data transmissions
  • Assume responsibility for and carefully track all money used for cash incentive payments.
  • Assume full and legal responsibility for use and care of computers and project equipment, taking reasonable and appropriate steps to safeguard them against damage, loss, or theft, and returning all equipment at the conclusion of the assignment or at a supervisor’s request.

TRAINING AND PAY

Field Interviewers will be expected to attend an in-person, paid training September 20 – 21, 2017 in Durham, North Carolina. Attendance at training is mandatory. Trainees must successfully complete training to continue employment on the project.
