The Clinical Pharmacist provides a normal range of functions such as clinical, consultative and dispensing services to a select group of patients located on a medicine, surgery or pediatric unit. The Clinical Pharmacist reviews medication orders for therapeutic and dosage incompatibilities and compliance with State, Federal and Medical Center policies; and doses drugs at the prescriber's request. The Clinical Pharmacist is also responsible for reviewing medication orders to ensure that the most cost-effective medications are ordered within the guidelines established by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Requirements: PharmD degree. California licensure required. A minimum of one-year experience in an acute care hospital setting is strongly preferred. Residency preferred and/or new graduates with strong background in hospital settings are encouraged to apply and will be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacokinetic dosing, TPN monitoring and drug use evaluation required.
