High School Diploma or GED

The medical assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting the physician with the examination, procedures, and testing of patients in order to provide optimal patient care and to maximize the time of the providers. Responsible for all prepatory duties to provider seeing patient and all other duties necessary to support the back end of a medical office. Follows established guidelines for infection control with particular reference to sterilization of instruments, handling of blood and other body fluids, and disposal of hazardous waste; must follow OSHA and CLIA standards at all times. Maintains the patient's right to privacy and is kind, courteous, sympathetic, understanding, and professional with all patients and staff.

High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, currently certified/registered (or must be scheduled for exam and successfully obtain certification within 30 days of hire). CPR required (Healthcare Provider course through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Assoc)


Experience using an electronic medical record is preferred but not necessary. Excellent communication skills. Helpful if knowledgeable of managed care, insurance billings, CPT and ICD-10 coding. Ability to use Microsoft Outlook.
