This program is designed to prepare talented grocery and retail professionals for Assistant Team Leader positions within the Maryland, Washington D.C. metro & Northern Virginia locations* of Whole Foods Market. Summary: Teamwork is at the heart of Whole Foods Market, and you will lead a Team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality driven leadership style. Alongside the Team Leader you will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development, terminations, and generally holding all Team Members accountable for their work. Associate Team Leader is responsible for department profitability, expense control, inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. We are looking for individuals who lead, not manage. You will be encouraged to help run the department as if it were your own business, within certain guidelines. The Associate Team Leader position requires the completion of an intensive, hands-on 12 week Career Development training program prior to fully assuming the responsibilities of the Associate Team Leader role at your home Store. The Career Development training program consists of being trained in all aspects of managing department operations and leading and developing Team Members. This position requires the ability to train in any metro area Store during the 12 week training period. This position will be located in one of our Stores in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the Washington D.C. metro/Northern Virginia area. DUTIES: * Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution. * Help foster a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. * Partner with Team Leader to select, train, develop, mentor, motivate and counsel Team * Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover. * Model and deliver outstanding customer service. * Follow through on all customer questions, requests, and resolve concerns as needed. * Maximize productivity and efficiency through proper scheduling. * Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, margin, expense, and labor targets. * Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. * Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated. * Demonstrate advanced product knowledge; maintain awareness of new products and regularly incorporate new products into the overall product mix.
