SUMMARY: Direct, manage and coordinate a variety of programs focused on the facilitation of excellence in resident and family relations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITY:

Enforcement of Pine Oaks Policies and Procedures for: Outside Contractors, including sitter services, physical therapy agencies, home health agencies; etc.

Basic Purpose of Position:
Directs Assisted Living Services, maintains medical supplies inventory. Implements orientation and training programs.
Customer/Clients Serviced by Position: Residents, families, potential residents and families, staff and outside providers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must be licensed in Tennessee and must present license for verification at time of employment and every year according to the license renewal schedule as determined by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Must have or obtain geriatric related continuing education CEU's as required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three to Five years experience working with the elderly, preferably in an "Assisted Living" Community, Nursing Home or Physicians group specializing in geriatrics.

List of those requirements that are necessary:

A. Essential job duties that must be safely performed with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct threat to other employees, residents, and staff:

  • Provide a quality assisted living program. Perform and is responsible for performance of all duties as listed on job descriptions for Nursing Assistants, Sitters, Activity Director and Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Directly supervises Assistant Resident Services Director, LPN's, Nursing Assistants, Caregivers and Outside Contractors.
  • Recruit, interview, and make recommendations for hiring.
  • Assure compliance of Cornerstone Village orientation program,
  • Conduct periodic evaluation of staff.
  • Responsible for scheduling and staffing consistent with Pine Oaks policies regarding the use of overtime hours, and the use of agency staffing.
  • Review and approve time sheets for staff payroll, assuring that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Be accountable for nursing compliance, excellence, and delivery of resident care services in adherence with federal state and local regulations.
  • Plan/Implement; set priorities for nursing action in a logical sequence according to patient's needs and formulate a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards. (UOC's) The Plan of Care is initiated on patient admission based on all aspects of the initial assessment. Plan includes physiological, psychosocial, and environmental factors: patient/significant other education and patient discharge planning.
  • Assess the patient; collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history. Complete and/or review Admission Data Record as defined by policy. Make accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's status and respond appropriately.
  • Utilize the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's care, as evidenced by client/staff observation.
  • Conduct conferences with residents and family members as necessary.
  • Oversee and review controlled substances to assure proper count and documentation.
  • Schedule approved time off for staff.
  • Assure compliance of PTO policies and procedures and any required documentation.
  • Assure proper documentation of all disciplinary actions, both verbal and written and make recommendation for terminations.
  • Plan and implement Pine Oaks orientation and education programs per ACV/Pine Oaks policies, procedures, and philosophy of care.
  • Assure on-going training, in-service programs, counseling, and support for staff.
  • Attend Department Head meeting weekly.
  • Responsible for knowing and following ACV/Pine Oaks policies and procedures and State Department of Health Regulations and ensures their compliance by employees.
  • Implement State regulations as required ensuring that all documentation and reports required by monitoring agencies and ACV/Pine Oaks policies and procedures are current.
  • Participate in the updating of Policies and Procedures manual as needed.
  • Adhere to OSHA and TOSHA regulations including use of Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures. Assure and monitor safe practices compliance by staff.
  • Report unsafe practices by staff in other departments as appropriate.
  • Comply with all aspects of operations, including personnel practices, in accordance with the policies and procedures of ACV/Pine Oaks and federal/state regulations.
  • Promote loyalty to the household among staff; generate positive attitude by demonstrating support of ACV/Pine Oaks policies and procedures.
  • Promote good interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships by working with all personnel to ensure and maintain the resident's activities of daily living.
  • Provide any necessary and direct support for the Administrator and/or Department Heads.
  • Aid the Director in the development of operational budgets and capital requirements including forecasting.
  • Operate department within budget.
  • Review and redirect activity, if necessary, strategy pertaining to labor, occupancy, mix, expenses, and quality of services.
  • Develop and assist new product line strategies and/or initiatives.
  • Ensure all ACV/Pine Oaks forms and residents' charts are correctly completed.
  • Maintain resident Bill of Rights, confidentiality and report violations of such rights through proper channels.
  • Constantly assess resident and staff needs.
  • Be flexible in unusual circumstances and available to work on-call and during emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain adequate equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain records and files for residents, employees, inventory, and supplies.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Perform conflict interventions and resolutions for customer, families, employees, and other sources.
  • Maintain a positive attitude for the elderly, ill, and disabled.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all strategies and tactics at the business level consistent with company and business objectives.
  • Timely responses to all inquiries from subordinate and corporate staff.
  • Positively affect worker's compensation and unemployment losses.
  • Present ACV/Pine Oaks and self in a positive professional manner.
  • Organize tasks; obtain resources to perform assigned tasks.
  • Prepare individual expense reports.
  • Improve self-skills with special emphasis on industry techniques to improve operations unit.
  • Assist in the planning of and oversee presentations for meetings and seminars as needed.
  • Be active in local activities.
  • Oversee the duties and responsibilities of the Licensed Nurses and Nursing Assistance in their absence(s).
  • Evaluate resident levels of care.
  • Maintain resident service plans.
  • Assure and arrange for quarterly assessment of Alzheimer and dementia residents is accordance with licensing rules, regulations and requirements.
  • Responsible for yearly inventory of Resident Services supplies and property.
  • Attend professional meetings and in-service trainings.

B. Equipment required in the performance of essential job duties:


1. All equipment listed in job descriptions of Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Personal Service Sitters.
