On behalf of Mathematica Policy Research, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Part-Time Field Interviewers to work on a school-based research study in the Warren, MI area.

Part-Time Field Interviewers (FIs) will work on an intensive, two-part project. The first part of the project will require Field Interviewers working with school staff to distribute and collect student consent forms. Once consent goals have been achieved, FIs will work in teams to travel to designated local High Schools to facilitate data collection for the Evaluation of the Making of Proud Choices! Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program.

Individuals with school based data collection experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Individuals who have experience working with teens in schools, including retired counselors, social workers, teachers, and substitute teachers will also be considered.  This is a short-term, part-time position offering variable daytime weekday hours from early September through mid-October 2017. During mid-September and early October, Part-Time Field Interviewers will be required to work every weekday approximately for about 25 – 30 hours/week. Pay for this position is $17 per hour. Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.535 per mile.

Duties

  • Work with school staff to distribute and collect consent forms prior to survey facilitation.
  • Coordinate for distribution of survey incentive and scheduling of survey facilitation with school staff.
  • Field Interviewers will work together in teams to successfully complete survey facilitation.
  • Submit time, mileage, and expense forms daily.
  • Complete and return all survey data according to required deadlines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and access to personal, reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators.
  • Access to a computer and high speed internet for work purposes.

Preferences

  • In-school data collection experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children preferred, particularly teens.

Training and Schedule

  • Paid, mandatory, 2-hour web based training is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 28th.
  • Paid, in-person, mandatory training is tentatively scheduled for the second week of September 2017 in Detroit MI.
  • Further employment is contingent upon successful completion training and passing a background check.
  • Qualified candidates should be available to commit for the full length of the study.
  • Anticipated first day of field interviewing is September 18, 2017.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 to 20 pounds of equipment and climb stairs while carrying equipment. 
  • Regular and reliable access to an insured motor vehicle. Will be required to operate the motor vehicle for driving distances in excess of 100 miles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit for periods of time, use their hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Experience and ability to operate a smart phone and or tablet/ with skills and visual acuity including connecting  to WIFI and using/sending email on a mobile device.
