About Blair County

Outdoor recreational opportunities abound in Blair County including some of the best fishing, hunting, boating, water-skiing, camping, downhill skiing, and canoeing to be found in Pennsylvania. A large branch campus of Penn State University is located in Altoona and the cultural and entertainment advantages of Penn State main campus are only 45 minutes away. The area is well represented with churches, social organizations, shopping areas, restaurants, etc. The cost-of-living in this area of central Pennsylvania means that earned income goes farther dollar-for-dollar than in many other areas of the state. In addition, the profession enjoys an active local veterinary association. These are some of the reasons why we feel that Blair County is one of the most attractive regions in Pennsylvania in which to live and practice.
