Providence is calling a Director of Strategy and Business Development to Providence Health & Services in Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

We are seeking a Director of Strategy and Business Development to:

The Providence St. Joseph Medical Center (PSJMC) Director, Business Development and Strategy, creates healthcare value initiatives related to physician services, including Providence affiliated physician integrated delivery operations, development and implementation of new opportunities to create new physician delivery models in existing and contiguous markets. Delivers key strategic initiatives related to creating growth initiatives that drive volume and profitability to include: integrated delivery operations, development and implementation of service lines and care delivery in existing and contiguous markets, growth of existing targeted services, and the identification and evaluation of launching new business opportunities.

The strategic role is responsible for the development of market analysis, value opportunity assessment, business forecasts, pro-forma development, and success measures for the ambulatory services site. This business development role will encompass developing business plans, operating and capital budgets, variance type analysis, implementation plans, marketing strategies, and dashboards/balanced scorecards to measure performance including volume, quality, customer satisfaction and financial indicators.

The Director's primary areas of responsibility include develop and build stronger physician relationships at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center creating alignment with Providence Health and Services (PH&S). Moreover, the Director manages and develops relationships with medical groups, IPA's and health plans, grow existing programs and services, and evaluate and launch new programs and services.

Responsibilities include the retention and recruitment of excellent physician partners that enhance the quality of clinical care provided to ministries we serve. The position will serve as a physician advocate and ombudsman developing and managing communication between physicians and Providence St. Joseph.

The Director works closely with Executive Leadership Team, Medical Staff leadership, and Service Line Directors to identify physician recruitment needs and priorities based upon community need, ED coverage requirements, business strategies, and market opportunities, as well as in-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations for physician recruitment to ensure compliance with all regulatory and PH&S Legal Affairs guidelines.

In this position you will:

* Strategist for the ministry site, performing market analysis and building plans. Supporting the process of planning for this site development with providing tools and process to utilize for planning, funding and management in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team and Service Line leadership.

* With Hospital and Medical Staff leadership, develops, implements, and monitors physician alignment, integration, recruitment and retention plans consistent with the Providence Saint Joseph's needs, to fulfill ED Panel requirements, to support existing physician practice growth, succession/transition planning and geographic expansion, and to support the Providence Saint Joseph's strategic priorities including ambulatory and medical office building development in existing and new geographic markets.

* Oversees service line development including joint ventures partnerships alliances and other hospital affiliations.

* Monitor and educate the Providence Saint Joseph leadership regarding payer mix, including managed care, and service line trends.

* Collaborates with Hospital Administration, CSO, Managed Care and others to identify and develop relationships with new medical groups/IPAs that diversify the Providence Saint Joseph's managed care and physician portfolio and expands the referral base for our services.

* Models business cases, pro formas, strategic and financial plans to ensure fiscal viability of operational plans. Establishes collaborative business, financial and clinical metrics.

* Develops relationships within and outside PH&S for the formation of a service line continuum of care for Providence Saint Joseph through various key constituencies such as patient and community, physicians, PH&S, competitors, and payors.

* Works collaboratively with physician leadership in all aspects of service line development. Ensures alignment and support of strategic priorities, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships in order to better understand the needs, requirements or other factors to service line programs.

* Partners with key stakeholders to promote consumer marketing strategies based on assessment of community needs that support physician practice and clinical program growth.

* Ensures comprehensive business plans, operating and capital budgets, variance analyses, implementation plans, business case and marketing strategies, and dashboards/balanced scorecards that measure performance, including volume, quality, customer/patient satisfaction and financial indicators are in place to enable the successful transition and hand-off to the operational management team.

* Integrates the alignment of service line objectives and operational goals into the Providence Saint Joseph strategic and financial planning using business case and market assessments.

* Identifies, evaluates, develops and implements new business growth opportunities, including developing business plans, budgets, pro-formas, implementation plans, and performance measurement tools with the assistance and guidance of the CSO, Service Line Directors, and others, as appropriate.

* Works with Decision Support to develop systems for tracking and analyzing volume, revenue, payer mix, financial performance (including ROI for new technologies and programs), customer satisfaction (patients, physicians), quality outcomes, and other relevant metrics for physicians, medical groups/IPAs, and new programs.

Required qualifications for this position include:

* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Clinical Science, or related field required.

* Five years prior management experience in health care business development, strategic planning and marketing is required.

* Significant experience leading teams, process group facilitation, project management, and building management systems is required.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Master's Degree strongly preferred.

* Ten years of progressive management experience; leadership of major clinical operations preferred.

* Physician and medical group integration experience preferred.

* Experience with different medical payment/reimbursement systems and how to perform business planning and forecasting with them.
