Job Description

If you're looking for a way to launch yourself in a new direction, then join the Army National Guard's Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) team and watch your career take off.

The MLRS is a highly specialized system, using different pieces of equipment, and operated by a team of professionals. As a Fire Direction Specialist, you will record and transmit the firing and intelligence data for the MLRS team, using fire direction systems and voice radio.

While doing so, you will learn vital skills applicable in any civilian career: skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership. You will also be exposed to various computer systems used in targeting and communications.

Earn while you learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for the Multiple Launch Rocket System Fire Direction Specialist begins with nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills. Following Basic Training, you attend Advanced Individual Training to learn specifics of your chosen specialty. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in a field environment.

Requires military enlistment. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.
