This position is responsible for the daily execution of the Operation and Performance of Whole Bird / Bone in Breast Production in Springdale, AR. The focus of this position is safety, process efficiency, process improvement, and customer solutions and personnel development.

Principal Accountabilities

25% EHS/FSQR/Risk Management

* Executes day-to-day operations within the Whole Bird/ Bone in Breast (WB/BIB) area, ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee Safety and Food Safety.

* Partners with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) experts to implement the most effective approach for complying with cooperate EHS and FSQR policies and procedures

* Health & Safety: Enforces a culture of ZERO injury and illness

* Environmental: Understands and proactively avoids environmental impact and potential risk to the business

* Food Safety: Directly monitors risks associated with products. Ensures Corporate, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and USDA requirements are met in all food processes

* Educates workforce in the safety and food safety fundamentals.

* Completes safety and food safety inspections and maintains a high standard for housekeeping and GMP practices.

* Documents and investigates EHS/Food Safety incident data to identify risks, root causes, recommends and implements corrective actions. (i.e. Safety Index, RIFR, food safety index, CEHS audits, CFSRA audits, FSIS/USDA NRs)

* Provide proper training on PPE, Safety, HACCP, SSOP, and GMP procedures to ensure understanding and implementation

* Leads by example through active participation in the Behavioral Based Safety program and by working closely with barrier removal and ergonomic teams.

* Maintains a direct and positive relationship with regulatory agencies (FSIS/USDA).

25% Operational/Reliability Excellence/Continuous Improvement

* Executes and monitors day-to-day operation for the WB/BIB department on 2nd Shift.

* Directly supervises the 2nd Shift within the WB/BIB department to achieve production throughput requirements including work flow, job assignments, scheduling, and shift coverage.

* Supports, deploys, and provides input to Best In Class (BIC) operational practices

* Utilizes deep technical skills and relevant experiences to identify and solve problems.

* Recommends and implements operational efficiencies (improve conversion costs and yields).

* Actively measures performance and implements leading practices to promote operational efficiencies (yield, conversion costs, energy/water reduction)

* Implements and supports common reliability processes and ensures the reliability culture is foundational to operations (deploys common reliability process and metrics, focus on eliminating the root cause of reliability problems, adheres to reliability work management procedures).

* Partners with local plant Reliability and Engineering management to develop approaches for meeting/tracking efficiency standards (scorecards, compliance audits)

* Champions a culture that promotes operational excellence. Recommends process improvements and supports business case for new investments/ innovations

* Actively participates or leads Continuous Improvement actions such as 5S, 5WHY, Kaizen

20% Customer Focus/ Product Innovation/ Quality Management

* Directly monitors production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within customer expectations (specifications and timelines)

* Documents and investigates quality concerns and compiles information to provide recommendations for improvement to Operations and FSQR managers.

* Identifies risks and recommends areas of improvement and innovation for the WB/BIB department.

* Measures quality performance in the WB/BIB department and recommends and implements improvements.

* Supports customer relationship by meeting business objectives and by understanding how operations performance impacts internal/external customer.

20% People Management

* Supervises and provides coaching to Leads and production employees including coaching Cargill's core values, Guiding Principles, Cargill Leadership Expectations.

* Assists in planning for future production workforce needs and participates in selection of employees

* Accountable for training and on boarding new/transferred employees as well as workforce engagement, recognition, development and coaching

* Provide candid, constructive, and timely feedback.

* Partners with HR Department to assist with employee coaching and disciplinary actions when needed.

10% Production Financial Performance/ Capital Planning Effectiveness

* Reviews conversion and yield metrics in the WB/BIB DOR and Weekly Estimate. Finds and implements controls to ensure compliance.

* Works with engineering, FSQR, EHS, and facility manager to provide input in the development of plant capital investment strategies.

Required:

* High school graduate plus 1-year industrial processing experience.

* Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays

* Knowledge of OSHA regulations, HACCP, Food GMP's,

* Strong understanding of sanitation, food handling, and food and personal safety practices

* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

* Ability to prioritize with a keen sense of urgency and take appropriate action

* Demonstrated expertise in multi-tasking, handling projects, and meeting deadlines in dynamic environment

* Effective problem solving and decision making skills (aligned with Discuss, Decide, Support behavioral capacity)

* Demonstrated ability to drive tasks to completion with desired results

* Ability to coach and motivate team resulting in high performance, high engagement

* Ability to build a cohesive team

* Strong integrity and moral principles aligned with Cargill's Guiding Principles

* Routine physical activity including standing and walking for several hours at a time, typing, climbing, and lifting approximately 55 lbs.

* Occasionally travel as required (typically less than 15% of time)

Preferred:

* Bilingual in either English/Spanish or English/Marshallese

* Poultry Ag/Production experience

* Working knowledge and experience with FSSC or BRC and USDA/FSIS

* Demonstrated project management experience

* Reliability Excellence deployment experience

* Ability to influence others outside of formal reporting relationships

* Previous manufacturing supervisory experience

* Good interpersonal skills demonstrating respect, candor, commitment through effective oral, listening and written Communications

* Effectively collaborates with other internal and external persons

* Ability to influence others outside of formal reporting relationships

* Ability to work independently

* Excellent organizational skills
