About this job
This position is responsible for performing social work assessment, intervention, and referrals, particularly where psychosocial factors influence medical problems, hospital course, patient/staff interactions, and discharge from the hospital. The Medical Social Worker is responsible for all inpatient and outpatient referrals. The social worker is interviewed, directed and evaluated by the Supervisor of Social Services. The social worker establishes and maintains professional relationships with physicians, case managers, county agencies, community resources, patients and families. The position will be required to take part in developing and presenting inservices to Sequoia Hospital staff.Medical Social Worker experience.
Qualifications:
- Two years Masters Degree from a School of Social work, accreditation Masters Degree from a School of Social work preferred. Completion of annual safety training.
- Completes and maintains required unit specific training.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with professional and lay groups; ability to communicate effectively.
- LCSW or LCSWI (Intern) preferred.
