JOB TITLE: Sr Tax Accountant–Property Tax
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for preparation / review of state and local tax compliance for multiple entities. This involves analyzing and interpreting tax laws and regulations affecting tax compliance, acquisitions, dispositions and other taxation issues. Additional responsibilities include providing tax analysis to support valuations, audits, appeals, forecasting and other internal or external projects.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Accumulate, analyze and process financial accounting data in order to prepare tax returns
Prepare / review tax returns and associated work papers
Manage the annual assessment valuation and tax bill process
Prepare general ledger property tax account reconciliations for inclusion in the quarterly financial statements
Research, interpret and apply tax laws and regulations affecting state and local property tax compliance
Analyze and evaluate tax implications of potential fixed asset updates, mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, or other initiatives relative to organization's objectives
Coordinate and communicate with members of tax, accounting, legal & real estate departments
Research relevant tax and legal data as needed
Perform other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills / Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.); including advanced Excel skills and familiarity with property tax return preparation software
Ability to research and resolve technical tax issues
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Knowledge of accounting theory and financial statement presentation
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Ability to effectively perform as part of a team committed to common objectives
Ability to adapt to unexpected or changing conditions and help others deal effectively with new situations
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Ability to manage multiple projects
Ability to stay focused and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Advanced degree such as Master’s in Accounting with concentration in Tax or Masters in Tax a plus
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Property tax return preparation and review and
related research experience 5+
Certifications and/or Licenses
CPA and "Big 4" public accounting experience is a plus
