Job Description
As the Manager of Training Coding reimbursement you will manage, plan, organize and evaluate the staff and activities related to revenue cycle coding and reimbursement training programs for PAANS. You will also collaborate with Department Chair, Administrators, Revenue Managers and Corporate Compliance regarding coding education and serve as an objective reviewer and evaluator of coding issues.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Designs, establishes and implements coding and reimbursement education training programs for PAANS providers and staff.
    • Prepares educational materials, presentations, classes, on-line sessions, new hire orientation, new provider training, training reinforcement, etc.
    • Prepares and presents specialty training programs as needed, i.e., KPI identified denial trends, revenue cycle specialty training.
    • Coordinates efforts to prioritize needs of coding programs across departmental lines.
    • Develops, oversees and coordinates coding training schedules.
    • Ensures training programs address regulatory coding/billing documentation and compliance guidelines.
    • Ensures training programs are evaluated, modified and implemented to address updates and changes in coding and reimbursement laws, regulations, and guidelines.
    • Presents educational programs to providers and staff.
    • Develops and distributes monthly coding newsletter.
    • Collaborates with management to develop business initiative participation requirements.
    • Collaborates with management to maintain and distribute "executive dashboard" for FPP Leadership Committees reporting on education.
  • Optimizes PAANS coding and billing practices and maintains current knowledge of all billing, coding, regulatory and reimbursement related issues as they apply to multi-specialties and coordinates communication of and education on changes to PAANS providers and staff.
  • Acts as liaison with Department Chairs, Administrators, Revenue Managers and Corporate Compliance to ensure provider compliance with regulatory coding/billing and documentation guidelines.
  • Develops updates, approves and maintains departmental objectives and policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of department.
  • Prepares reports for departmental leadership on progress of coding reimbursement education initiatives.
  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports and oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
    • Conducts reviews on staff performance at defined intervals for quality assurance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field AND a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in medical revenue cycle coding and compliance, required. Prior supervisory experience, preferred. OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of twelve (12) years progressively responsible experience in medical revenue cycle coding and compliance, required. Prior supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Credentials in one or more of the following, required:
    • Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS)
    • Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P)
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
    • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
    • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
