Job Summary 

Under supervision of a qualified dentist in a dental office, dental hygienist assess patient needs and plans/delivers direct dental care and associated services to patients.

  • Address patient needs
  • Asses hard and soft tissues
  • Provide patient education related to oral hygiene
  • Reinforce treatment plan needs for patient
  • Participate in the dental treatment of patients by performing dental prophylaxis, root planning, sealants placement, application of topical fluorides, examination of teeth, and assisting the dentist with procedures as required
  • Take radiographs
  • Preform charting on patient needs; present problems, medical and dental history, perio and tooth charting; review health history each visit
  • Post completed procedures in dental software program
  • Clean hygiene room, sterilize instruments, and prepare hygiene room for patients
  • Attend office training and meetings as needed
  • Assist other team members as time allows
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

 Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

 

·         RDH license  

·         Knowledge of and ability to comply with OSHA, state health administration and HIPAA regulations

·         Current certification in CPR

·         One year of related experience

·         Working knowledge of Eaglesoft/Dentrix practice management software
